Father’s Day Gift Ideas

With Father’s Day fast approaching, I thought I would share two of my favorite gifts that we have made for my husband. He loved them and our boys LOVED putting these gifts together for Daddy!!!

You will need a large frame, paper and paints. Since we have three boys, I used a different paint color for each child. This is a great project to do outside! Use a large piece of paper or cardboard. Have the first child walk across the paper, followed by the second, etc.  I started with the oldest child so that the largest print would be on the bottom. While the paint is drying, I printed the poem below to insert into the frame. Glue the poem onto the picture so it doesn’t move in the frame. Once everything is dry, assemble your frame! Dad will love it!!

“Walk a little slower Daddy”

“Walk a little slower, Daddy!” said a little child so small.
“I’m following in your footsteps and i don’t want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast, sometimes they’re hard to see;
So walk a little slower Daddy, for you are leading me.

Someday when I’m all grown up, you’re what i want to be.
Then i will have a little child who’ll want to follow me.

And i would want to lead just right, and know that i was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for i must follow you!!”

Our second project for Dad was finger painted golf balls! This is more of a keepsake item than actual golf balls that Dad can use. I think the paint would actually come off if they are used or get wet!!

This project worked out perfectly for one set of golf balls. I used four balls per child, again using a different paint color for each kid! Paint one finger on your child and stamp the finger as you roll the ball!!
