OMBRE!!!

I have been in love with the Ombre look for quite a while… For at least six months I have debated about taking the plunge and going Ombre! I have never been one to be very experimental with my hair. When I do get a cut, it’s usually “just a few inches”. I have actually said to my stylist, “please cut the least amount you can for it to look healthy.” My stylist by the way, is also my fabulous sister-in-law, Kelly Murphy, who own Bangs of Boston in the North End!  She is the best and I highly recommend her!

Anyways, I think I had a bad experience when I was pregnant with my first child and I basically cut all my hair off! Then, when reading my first pregnancy book it said right there in black and white, NEVER make big decisions like cutting your hair when you are pregnant. AND sure enough, a month later I hated my hair… and hated it for the next year! So….

This past September I started debating again about my hair (I know, really important, blah blah blah)! I got a little crazy and had Kelly put some extensions in for thickness, along with some highlights. I’m probably the only person I know in her mid-thirties that has never really used color! I don’t know if I should be proud of this, or whether its a little sad!!

But back to my love affair with Ombre! I finally took the plunge on Monday and I am hooked! Love it… Thank you Kelly!!!!

Here is my before shot….

Potty Training!

This week I begin my most dreaded task of being a mother… Potty Training!! It is a must do task that I have never enjoyed! In fact, I have never met another mom that has actually been excited about potty training. Last week I casually mentioned to a few of my mommy friends that my youngest would be getting rid of his diapers, and a look of sympathy passed over each of their faces! Before having children, I never thought I would talk so openly about poop! We of course rehashed the horror stories of training our older children… the near misses, the stories of being in public when our child finally decided to “go” in his pants, etc! I was told to go forth with lots of wine stockpiled!!

I hate the mess, the repetition of sitting on the potty every fifteen or twenty minutes for hours on end, and most of all I can’t stand being confined to the house for days on end!!

But it is of course a rite of passage for every child! And as much as I am dreading this Monday morning start, I am also experiencing a bittersweet feeling because this will be my last time potty training. There will be no more diapers at our house in the coming weeks, and it does in some ways feel like an end to a life chapter! Bring on the wine!!
